Óbvia Residency is an independent programme designed to host several artists per month. It offers comfortable accommodation and studio space in Setúbal, Portugal. Both spaces are situated in the city centre, in a typical, old fishing neighbourhood.
At the Óbvia Residency, you will enjoy the time and space you need to focus on your work.
The residency period starts from October 2019 up to and including April 2020. The duration of the residency can range from one to three months, depending on individual proposals and wishes.
The artist will be accommodated in a two floor house that has been designed and rebuilt from ruins.
On the ground floor you have an open social area with a fully equipped kitchen, a small wc and a comfortable dining and living room. On the first floor you have two private rooms and a shared bathroom: a master room with a Queen size bed, one desk and two balconies; a second room with two single beds that can be combined into a perfect Queen size bed; and a bathroom.
The studio space is situated on the second floor of a building that is only a one-minute walk from the accommodation.
It is a 41m2 open space, with good natural light, that offers common areas (storage, lounge and wc) and two different areas to work:
a) Space 1 with 17m2 (if you need a big wall or more open space to develop or organize your work, this is more suitable).
b) Space 2 with 12m2 with adjustable structure to set a dark room, suitable to develop alternative photography processes.
